Aircraft grade titanium alloys are about 3 times stronger than stainless steel, and approximately 45% lighter. Aircraft grade titanium (6Al/4V) is 300 to 800% stronger than basic grade (C.P.) titanium. Extra-hard titanium (6Al/6V/2Sn) is approximately 130% stronger than 6Al/4V titanium. Basic grade titanium's hardness can be compared to platinum's, only much lighter.
