There are a quasi-infinite variety of natural and synthetic (lab-created) precious stones, coming in many different shapes, cuts and colors.
At this time, we only set round (brilliant) cut, marquise and square (princess) cut stones. The hardness and molecular structure of stones like diamonds, rubies, sapphires (natural or lab-grown) and synthetic moissanites allow them to be safely set into tension rings with reduced risks of breaking or chipping. Fragile stones such as emeralds, amethysts, or even diamonds with a lower clarity (SI2 and less), or Yehuda treated should not be set into tension rings, as they present noticeable inclusions and cracks (feathers) that may increase chances for breaking and/or chipping. Although quite durable in a tension setting, a Cubic Zirconium is not the most ideal stone for a such a setting. Cubic zirconia (CZ's) have a very nice appearance and last for a good amount of time, but eventually will chip. We will replace chipped and cracked CZ's in rings made by us at any time, free of charge. For customers looking for a more permanent stone, a harder stone such as a diamond, moissanite, sapphire or ruby would be preferable to a CZ. We can set a stone that you already have, or we can provide a quote to your specifications from various diamond brokers that we are familiar with. Just let us know of the specifications of the diamond, moissanite, sapphire or ruby you would like and we will try to match it with stones that are currently available to us. |
