In today’s society it is often intriguing to note how heavily we are influenced by pop culture and celebrity styles. Before televisions were a household staple, streaming videos became a cultural norm and Facebook and Twitter took over our social interactions, the media frenzy was severely muted. While there were strong socialites present, their reach was stinted and limited to larger urban areas and even then, the exposure was not to the extreme it is now. With that in mind, style in jewelry and fashion has evolved into a whirl of activity and state of constant change.

Jewelry trends have especially been affected by pop culture as young stars have begun to influence the next generation of consumers by becoming style entrepreneurs.  Famous child stars have begun to branch off into designer clothing lines, perfumes, accessories and jewelry-most famously the Olsen twins. Designing unique signature pieces and a collection of funky-styled jewelry, the twins have made a mark on the jewelry scene catering to the elite market.  Other stars have followed suit creating their own jewelry pieces-usually with a high price tag attached.

Celebrity weddings have also played a role in influencing designers to create signature look-a-like pieces and also inspiring unique collections. Most recently, the Royal wedding inspired designers across the globe to create affordable rings and jewelry that closely mirrored the jewelry worn by Princess Kate. Merging the classic style of the Royal heirloom jewelry with that of a modern feel, jewelers targeted a contemporary demographic; creating timeless pieces.

Because of the importance of the dress duties, the Page was to be no younger than seven years old. This tradition has continued into modern times. A pillow was incorporated due to the wealth that it represented (pillows were a scarce commodity) as well as the symbolism of good fortune for the couple. Rings were tied or secured onto the pillow for the Page to deliver to the altar for exchange. 

The role of the ring bearer in today’s wedding ceremonies has evolved slightly as often symbolic rings are secured to the pillow rather than the actual rings exchanged (usually kept in the care of the best man). Another change has been the removal of the dress duties. Most ring bearers now precede the bride as opposed to following behind. Pillows are still frequently used, however, to make it easier for younger ring bearers sometimes a teddy bear or other personal item is utilized for carrying the rings. In some cases a family pet takes the place of a human ring bearer for an added personal touch. 

Regardless of the inclusion or exclusion of a ring bearer in the wedding ceremony, the ring exchange still remains an important symbolic exchange between the bride and groom of commitment and love-a timeless tradition. 

As the snow begins to melt and signs of spring are starting to show on the horizon, the fashion and jewelry industry is heating up. Fashion weeks have started globally and new designs are being showcased-complemented by the latest bling. As models grace the catwalks in New York, Toronto, London and other major global cities, consumers will begin to see the trends emerge for purchase.

Even in the selection of the engagement ring and wedding bands, couples are looking for a combination of personalization paired with global responsibility that can be seen in the selection of gemstones and metals used in the making of rings. One such metal that is being sought for wedding rings is titanium as new designs and customization of titanium rings has become widely accessible to couples. 

As couples have shifted to being more hands-on in the planning and execution of their weddings the ability to personalize titanium rings has increased appeal in 2011 and will continue to see growth in 2012. The ability to track every aspect of how the ring is designed and crafted allows couples to have a true do-it-yourself approach with a smaller price tag attached.

Titanium is naturally a grey-silvery metal, but has the ability to be anodized in several colors as well as black diamond treated for a glossy durable black look.

Tungsten is a similar grey-silver colored metal-ceramic that can also sometimes be found treated with some black coatings for a shiny black look.

Gold is usually 'carated' mixed with other metals to add durability due to its natural softness. These other metals can alter the color of the gold to make softer yellows, whites-greys, pinks and other more recent colors.

Platinum is a whiter silver color than titanium.

Silver has a very white silvery look.

Durability (scratching,bending,breakage, and setting security)

Titanium is very resistant to bending, cracking and has good scratch resistance. Stone settings in titanium resist loosening very well. Titanium's high strength allows innovative and more delicate stone setting than traditional softer jewellery metals.

Tungsten, being actually a metal-ceramic, has very high hardness and brittleness. Its resistance to scratching is the best, but it comes at a cost of tougness. If hit or shocked hard enough, tungsten will actually break instead of flex, therefore destroying the ring. Tungsten does not allow stone settings other than a few added-on gold or silver settings.

Gold usually has good durability, but will wear down over the years. Scratches will reduce the brightness of its polish or other finishes quite quickly. Gold can bend if stressed moderately, but it will usually never crack unless very thinned by wear. Stone setting in gold cover a wide range of traditional designs, but is not strong enough for many creative new setting designs. Setting in gold can loosen over time.

Platinum resists wear due to its almost rubbery nature. It will lose its lustre with scratches, but the metal will remain intact better than gold or silver. Platinum will deform under moderate stress, but will almost never break. Settings in platinum have a better durability record than in gold or silver, but will still loosen over time more than titanium. Platinum is usually too soft to allow many new stone setting styles.

Silver is the most soft jewellery metal. It scratches very easily and can bend even with moderate wear, but is unlikely to break. Stone settings in silver are usually more bulky to add durability. Darkening from tarnishing oxidation can also be a problem.

Weight

Titanium is very light weight. Its light weight may even surprise some people. It has been described to "feel is if it is not even there".

Tungsten and platinum are the heaviest jeweller  metals, while carat golds and silver are somewhat less heavy. The light weight of titanium has an added advantage of remaining stable and not rotating on the finger, therefore keeping the stone setting more often in sight  and not needing regular readjustments to have the correct look.

Bio-compatability

Titanium, even in its higher strength alloy form known as "aircraft-grade titanium" is perfectly bio-compatable. Aircraft-grade titanium is commonly used for surgical implants and dental fittings than pure titanium, as it is more resistant. Titanium is the only known "foreign" material that living tissue will attach onto.

Platinum is the only other jewelry metal that is highly bio-compatable. Tungsten, silver and carat golds have been know to cause allergic reactions in some people. Silver being probably the metal with the greatest occurance of this trouble.

It is hard for me to comment on the ring I bought and the service received without sounding like I am a company employee, which I am not.  Am actually a security consultant in the middle east.  The ring I ordered was the Abyss edition in satin finish with the clear diamond treatment.  It is 12mm wide and all I can say is, this is one awesome piece of jewelry.  It is large bold and a proper mans wedding band.  I myself am a former military diver and engineer that has worked with titanium in the past and so always liked this material.  If you read the book the Abyss you will understand fully the significance of the titanium ring and what the strong metal stands for.  Since reading the book many years ago I always wanted such a ring but never thought beyond the boundaries of usual and lets face it boring gold.  It was by chance I seen a link saying Abyss replica wedding band and so I was taken to this site and was amazed to find the ring that had inspired me so many years before.

OK, thats my short story of the actual ring and the metal but also to note is the service received.  All emails were answered promptly and I even made the order to the wrong address and this got sorted out with no issues and changed to the correct address.  Sounds simple but there are many companies that seem to fail bad on that one.  

Friendly emails as well and I got the sense that the people handling my order took pride in it and were as happy as i was that the ring was well received.

Hello, my name is Ivan S and my fiancee is Tamara G. We ordered Polished Aria wedding bands in Aircraft Grade Titanium. We just received them yesterday morning. THEY ARE JUST FANTASTIC! Even your website pictures as great as they are, can not do them justice! And price!!! We sampled titanium wedding bands in the mall. Only two of about seven jewelers are carrying them! They do not look even close as good or sophisticated and they were starting at $800.00 US!!! When we were ordering from your company, I thought it was a scam when I saw your pricing! We went back to those stores that showed us their inventory reluctantly. They just about had heart attacks when they saw these rings. They asked about the price. We giggled, told them to cut their price to one third and then showered them with the fact that it was for both rings! Paramedics, anyone! They do not understand. It is not just about price, but quality and reputation of a craftsmanship of a company that does so many different models out of one of hardest materials known to man, daily! We'll be back for those anniversaries. Oh, yeah, expect a flood of inquires from California. Word of mouth is spreading faster than a virus. Thanks a million! We did a quick test fit, with her eyes closed of course, and the size is dead on. I dropped it off at a local jeweler this afternoon to have a sappire set into it. (As a side note, sappire gets its blue color from titanium trapped in the corundum mineral matrix. Titanium set in titanium!) Although it is not specifically said in the movie, Bud had his ring custom made from a piece of titanium. The book give many hints to the reader... "She noticed he was wearing the massive titanium band she'd bought him."

This ring style was carefully noted and reproduced in aircraft grade titanium (Ti 6Al/4V), as it is used in tactical submarines as well as higher level aeroplanes. A softer titanium grade (such as the base grade) would have deformed and pinched on Ed Harris' finger, but Bud's "high-grade", oversized wedding ring could actually withstand such a treatment. "The harder-than-steel wedding band Lindsey had given him. The door could bend it a little - He could feel the pressure on his finger - but it couldn't break it or crush it."

Bud's ring is very wide : close to 15mm in width. It is also quite thick to resist the hydraulic door treatment. Its aspect looks close to a raw "industrial cut", with no specific jewellery finish, making it look very manly and strong!
All our rings come with a choice of jewellery finishes for aesthetics and more refined aspect, but you can always choose the raw finish for a more authentic look. We do not use titanium tubing to make our rings. Each ring is carved from a solid bar of the metal.

Delivery Times

Our rings are made to order, crafted to our customers' individual specifications after their orders are processed. If you are ordering a plain titanium ring, it usually takes 5 to 10 business days from the time we receive payment until we have made your ring(s) and they’re ready to ship.

Rings with special coatings such as Black Diamond Coated plain rings will require more time than uncoated rings, usually 10 to 20 business days. Completion times for custom rings depend upon the design chosen. Please contact us for an estimated completion time on these rings.

Longer delivery times should be expected for orders placed by mail. Orders mailed from the USA or outside North America can take 7 to 20 business days to arrive to us.

FedEx shipping times refer to the time it takes for a completed order to travel from our address to the recipient. It does not refer to the time it takes to prepare an order for shipment. Express shipping is not available on weekends. If your ring is past due, express shipping will be accommodated free of charge.

Please check all delivery packaging prior to releasing/signing for it. We are not held responsible for any damage/theft which may occur once the package has been signed for.

Rush Delivery

If you require your ring by a specific date that is outside the normal shipping information provided here, please specify the date you need your item(s) to arrive in the “comments” section of the ring order form.

Rush Fees are as follows:
Each item valued at under $200 is an additional $20 fee

Apartment Delivery

2. Does titanium come in different colors?
Titanium is a reactive metal that can be anodized in different colors by thermal or electrolytic processes. This type of treatment is not permanent. An anodized piece of titanium jewelry would quickly appear scratched and discolored. We do not engage in this process. We do offer Diamond Coating options, as described on our finishes page.

3. Is a titanium ring scratch-proof?
We would love to say, “yes!” but it is not so. Like any other ring, a titanium band will eventually become lightly scratched and could show scuff marks from everyday wear. We offer lifetime refinishing as part of our warranty for customers who purchase their ring through this website. Visit the warranty page for this information.

To improve the durability of your titanium ring, we offer Diamond Coating finishing options which dramatically improves surface hardness. Visit the finishes page for more information.

5. Can my ring be cut off my finger in case of emergency?
Yes, it can. Even stronger titanium alloys can be cut without much difficulty. We have performed tests on a 6AI/4V ring with a basic (manual) ring cutter, and it cut through in under 2 minutes. Hospital and paramedic ring cutters are usually electric and would be even quicker.

6. What if my ring does not fit?
If you mistakenly ordered the wrong size or you were improperly sized, our warranty covers sizing up to 1/2 size loosening or 1/4 size tightening with use of a titanium rod. This is applicable for most styles at no additional charge. See warranty page for more information. Following the guidelines on our sizing page will help ensure you order the correct size.

8. Do your rings come with a “comfort fit”?
As a general rule, all ring edges are slightly rounded and smooth to avoid the discomfort of sharp edges. Most of our rings are crafted with traditional comfort fit. Some styles (such as the classic {{widget type="catalog/product_widget_link" anchor_text="Stealth" template="catalog/product/widget/link/link_inline.phtml" id_path="product/60"}} and most tension settings) cannot be crafted this way, so we make these rings with what we call a semi-comfort fit. 9. I have large knuckles. Rings that fit over my knuckle tend to feel too loose on my finger. What do you suggest?
A ring with a greater width may sit better on your finger. 10. What kind of titanium do you use?
All of the rings we sell are made from an aircraft grade titanium, commonly used in the aerospace industry. It is Titanium 6AI/4V. It was developed in the 1950s and contains 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. It is the most widely available high strength titanium alloy. Because it is lightweight, neutral and has a high tensile strength, it is found in many applications in the sport and leisure industry and in contemporary jewelry.

11. You say that titanium has high tensile strength. What does this mean?
Tensile strength refers to the amount of resistance that is required to withstand a force before something is permanently broken. You’ll find your titanium ring will maintain its perfect round shape without the deformity or bending that is commonly found in gold or silver rings.

Warranty Details

If your TitaniumRings.com ordered product is found to have a defect in material or workmanship, we will repair your item free of charge. In the event that our workshop determines that the item cannot be repaired, we will replace the item with the same model, or one that is equivalent.

This lifetime warranty is valid only when a new product is purchased through this TitaniumRings.com website. It does not apply to products that are crafted by us, but have been resold to you by other merchants.

Lifetime Refinishing

Our jewelry may be returned to us for refinishing. This is a service that we provide free of charge, with the exception of shipping charges to and from our workshop.

We do limit the frequency of warranty refinishing:

• Titanium jewelry without coatings or inlays may be refinished up to four times per calendar year.
• Jewelry with our 5x Engineered Diamond Plating may be refinished up to two times per calendar year.
• Jewelry with our Black Diamond Coating may be refinished once per calendar year.
• Jewelry with inlays of platinum, gold or silver may be refinished once per calendar year.

Limitations Regarding Precious Gems

If you have a stone that you would like placed into one of our settings, we strongly recommend you have the gem(s) properly appraised and insured by an insurance company for its full value prior to sending to us for setting purposes. Print and send a copy of your order form with your stone.

TitaniumRings.com is not liable for lost or cracked stones. If a stone becomes loose or falls out, we will reset the stone free of charge.

Our warranty covers our titanium settings but excludes precious gems, whether they are supplied by us or sent to us.

TitaniumRings.com reserves the right to set limitations according to the value and nature of the stone that is to be set.

We will bridge the tension in our rings free of charge.

Your Responsibilities

Please contact us immediately if you notice any defects in your item.

Retain your proof of purchase documents and packaging. You will be requested to provide proof of purchase in order to receive warranty service, and original packaging is required in the event that you need to return your item. (See Return Policy below)

This warranty does not cover expenses incurred due to a lack of proper care.

Shipments returned to us without proper paperwork, customs declarations or with duties, taxes or freight charges owing will not be accepted and will be returned to sender.

Changes in Ring Size

We will resize or replace any ring that we have accidentally crafted to an incorrect size from what was ordered.

Please read our sizing instructions prior to ordering your ring. If you have ordered an incorrect size or you require resizing (because over time your finger has changed size), you have some options.

Increasing Ring Size
We can increase the size of most rings by half of a ring size. Some ring models, such as the {{widget type="catalog/product_widget_link" anchor_text="Stealth" template="catalog/product/widget/link/link_inline.phtml" id_path="product/60"}}, rings with inlays, and stone settings only allow us to increase the ring size by 1/8 of a size.

If you require your ring size to be increased by more than these amounts, it will need to be re-crafted. Please read our Remake Fees (listed below) for instructions.

Decreasing Ring Size
We are not able to decrease the size of rings. However, we are the innovators in the creation of a tightening rod that we secure to the inside of your ring free of charge. Our tightening rod is a smooth titanium wire, about 10mm long, that we weld to the inside of the band.

Tightening rods decrease the ring size by about a quarter of a ring size. They are a comfortable option for people with larger knuckles. They also help reduce the movement of a ring and can make it easier to remove.

Keep in mind that a tightening rod may interfere with inside engraving on your ring.

This fee chart applies in the event that your ring needs to be re-crafted. We seek to keep the fees to remake your jewelry as low as possible for you. They are arranged in $100 increments so you can easily calculate the fee for your particular item.

We have incorporated the reapplication of coatings in these fees. Please note; in the case of jewelry crafted with diamonds and/or gemstones we only consider the charges for the titanium parts.

A properly-sized ring will fit comfortably on your finger, but will be a little hard to get off. Since the ring has to travel over your knuckle, the ring size is really the size of your knuckle, not the part of your finger below it.

Here are some tips for identifying your ring size:

Get measured by a jeweler

We recommend measuring your ring size using steel rings, as used by professional jewelers. Paper strips or strings do not fit the finger as a steel ring, and it is impossible to gauge if a paper or string size moves comfortably over your knuckle. Plastic rings are less reliable than metal sizers. A mandrel, or tapered ring-measuring rod, is also not going to give an accurate measurement.

If you have a ring that fits you comfortably, take it to a jeweler and have it measured for size. Sizing should be measured from the center of the ring.  Superimposing the ring on our ring sizer chart   when it is printed out without paper scaling, will give you an approximate size. Although we have tried to make our ring sizer chart accurate as possible, it is not going to be as good as using a steel ring sizer.

Ring sizers and measuring techniques can vary from one jeweler to another. Get sized at a few different shops. If sizings vary, take the average.

Provide us accurate measurements

Sizing is measured from the center of the ring. Providing us with your finger measurement as well as the inside diameter measurement and the width of the sizing ring used helps us the most. Please type this information in the “comments” area of the online order form when you place your order.

Ring sizing varies based on the width of the ring. Wider rings may require a ring size that is 1/8 or 1/4 size bigger than a narrow ring. When determining your ring size for your titanium ring, use a ring that is approximately the same width as your desired titanium ring.

Finger size can change with the time of the day. Fingers tend to be a bit enlarged in the morning and slightly smaller in the evening. Do your measurements in the early afternoon, when your finger is likely to be at its average size.

Consider your knuckle

Some people have large knuckles, and rings that fit over the knuckle are way too big on the part of the finger below the knuckle. If this is the case for you, we can add a small, smooth tightening rod to your ring. It is a piece of titanium that is welded to the inside of the ring. We do this at no charge, but note that it may restrict the length of inside engraving possible on your ring.

 Do not order an engagement ring unless you are sure of your fiancee’s ring size. Take her to a jeweler to get measured using steel measuring rings and using the guidelines we’ve suggested on this page. You will be glad to have gone through the extra effort.

Because we offer engraving servings and tightening rod additions, customers sometimes send us titanium jewelry made by other ring makers. Unfortunately, although these rings were nice and shiny when new, the quality of the finishing is often quite poor. Lack of interior finishing, incomplete polishing, sharp edges, gouges and other blemishes on the surface show up under close inspection.

You need to understand that the finish treatment given is just as important to your ring as the design itself! Our rings are finished to a high-jewelry level - greater than many of the rings found in boutique jewelry stores. They can pass inspection under 10 power optical magnification. Polished
A polished finish is very shiny, almost mirror-like. This finish can be compared to the look of other white precious metals which are highly polished, or chrome-coated objects.

Satin
A satin finish is similar to a brushed finish, with a visible directional texture. It reflects light differently than a polished finish and is less bright in appearance.

5x Engineered Diamond Plating and Black Diamond Coating
White basic titanium is a strong metal with a high strength-to-weight ratio. However its low surface hardness and high surface friction results in poor resistance to superficial scratching and marring.

We have specialized and licensed a production process that permanently coats your ring in a combination of crystalline and non-crystalline diamond material. This process is second-to-none in terms of adding durability to your titanium ring. It combines with the titanium to create a protective layer so hard and low in surface friction that normal daily wear and tear marks will largely be resisted.

Please note: This is not comparable to information you may have read elsewhere about “black coating” on titanium. The diamond plating process we offer outperforms all other coatings that can be applied to titanium to change its color.

The more diamond coating layers added to the titanium, the darker the color. We offer two options; a 5x Engineered Diamond Plating that will give your ring a cool bluish shade or a full Black Diamond Coating option that results in a black diamond finish that is eye-catching and has unmatched durability.

This specialized diamond plating is chemically inert and will not react with acids or chemicals. It is silky smooth to the touch, providing a gleaming patina that produces no friction. If your ring appears to be scratched, light polishing will remove the marks.
