You will know that your ring has been diamond treated by the existence of two 'witness marks' on the inside of the ring where it was held during the diamond treatment process. These tiny spots are the only part of the ring that are not treated.

Information that you may have read elsewhere about some "black coating" on titanium simply does not apply to Black Diamond plating. It simply outperforms all other coatings that can possibly be applied to titanium to change its color.

It is silky smooth to the touch, providing a gleaming patina that produces no friction. Remarkably, the specialized diamond plating is even more neutral to the human body and less reactive to caustic chemicals than titanium alone. It may be worn with complete confidence by those with allergies or other sensitivities to metals such as gold or platinum.

Diamond plating films are chemically inert in most aggressive environments and do not react with acids or alkalis. They have been used in countless applications such as wear- resistant coatings on engine piston rings, and in biomaterials, optical coatings, and tool coatings.

While "basic" titanium is a strong metal with a high strength to weight ratio, its low surface hardness and high surface friction results in poor resistance to superficial scratching and marring, even from relatively light use/wear.

The Titanium Workshop's proprietary lab-created black diamond coating combines with titanium to create a protective layer so hard and so low in surface friction that normal daily wear will never make a scratch, scrape or scuff on your precious ring. (Harder than usual treatment may mark the ring slightly, but this is unusual. Sometimes, the ring may appear to be scratched, but these markings will disappear with a little light polishing, rendering the ring as good as new.) Since the lab-created diamond plating forms a very thin coat on the surface of the titanium, if someone were to "test" the ultimate strength of the diamond layer with tools etc, they might be able to make marks in it, as with any wedding band.*
